Rev Patrick Keogh
Rev Patrick Keogh was born in Limerick in Ireland in December 1947 and ordained a priest in 1975. He has been in the Diocese of Middlesbrough for almost 50 years. Before moving to St Hilda’s Whitby as parish priest in October 2012, he was previously at St Joseph’s and St Thomas More’s in Middlesbrough and also had stints at Loftus, Brotton and Grangetown. In his younger days, Fr Pat (as he is more affectionately known) was one quarter of the Chancy Brothers, four singing priests in Teeside who raised significant funds for charitable causes.
Rt Rev Terence Patrick Drainey
Bishop Terence Patrick was born in Manchester in August 1949. He attended Ushaw College as a student in the Junior House but left before entering Major Seminary. Eventually he was sent to the Royal English College Valladolid in Spain where he studied in the Augustinian Stadium of the University of the Comillas.
Bishop Terence PatrickHe was ordained for the diocese of Salford in 1975 and worked for ten years as an assistant priest. In 1986 he was loaned to the Archdiocese of Kisumu in Western Kenya as a “fidel donut” priest. On his return in 1991 he worked as a parish priest until he was appointed spiritual director to the Royal English College of St Albans at Valladolid in 1997. During this time, the staff of the College embarked on the project of developing a propaedeutic or foundational year to help candidates thoroughly prepare for priestly formation. He eventually became the Director of this programme.
He was appointed to the position of President of St Cuthbert’s College Ushaw in June 2003, and in April 2006 was made a papa chaplain by his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
He was installed as the seventh Bishop of Middlesbrough in November 2007.
Fr Michael Weitl
Fr Michael is a member of the Madonna House community at Robin Hood’s Bay. Although not part of the Middlesborough Diocese clergy, he does play an active role in supporting St Hilda’s parish as well as his Madonna House duties.
Born in USA, he moved to Canada to join Madonna House in the late 1990s as a layman. Over the years he served at various locations in Canada as well as in Belgium before being sent by the community to the seminary, studying both in Canada and Rome.
He was ordained a priest in 2014, and he subsequently finished a licentiate in Eastern Christian Theology as well as serving for a year in a parish in the Diocese of Pembroke, Ontario.
He then returned to full time ministry with the Madonna House community. In 2020, he was assigned to the Madonna House in Robin Hood’s Bay, and has been serving there ever since. In addition to his duties as a member of the apostolate in Robin Hood’s Bay, he assists the Catholic parishes in Whitby, Sleights, and Scarborough.
