GIFT AID

Give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” ( 2 Corinthians 9:7-9)

Gift Aid is aimed at those parishioners who pay income tax and who make donations to St Hilda’s or English Martyrs’ churches towards their up-keep. For every one pound donated (this can be via gift aid envelopes or by standing order) the church is able to claim back 25 pence from HMRC – boosting a one pound donation to £1.25.

One-off donations can also be Gift-Aided using the White envelope scheme – these are small white envelopes which are available from the back of each church. Gifts given by Gift Aid envelope or by standing order are noted and a tax back request is made on behalf of the parish once a year. All that is required to be a Gift Aider (providing you are an Income Tax payer) is the name, address and signature of the Gift Aider.  No other information is needed.

If anyone would like to Gift-Aid their donations to either St Hilda’s RC Church, Bagdale, Whitby or English Martyrs’ RC Church, Sleights – please contact the parish coordinator (details below).

Very many thanks to anyone who already contributes – both tax payers and non-tax payers – your contributions are very much appreciated.
